A zombie outbreak erupts in cities around the world; those bitten by the creatures become zombies themselves within 12 seconds. Retired United Nations (UN) investigator Gerry Lane, his wife Karin, and their two daughters take shelter with a family in Newark. Gerry’s friend, UN Deputy Secretary-General Thierry Umuntoni, arranges their rescue. When their U.S. Air Force helicopter arrives, zombies invade the house and their hosts are bitten, with only their son, Tommy, managing to escape with Gerry’s family. They are flown to a U.S. Navy carrier group offshore New York City, where Umuntoni is overseeing the remaining worldwide governments’ reaction.The onboard scientists, needing to find patient zero, focus on Camp Humphreys in South Korea – thought to be the source of their first known mention of &rdquozombie&rdquo.
